My Favorite Pool Essentials

pool-essentials-flatlay-bare-republic-sunscreen

Whether you’re hanging with your crew sipping rose, or with your main squeeze or by yourself, you can maximize your time in the sun with the right pool essentials.

There is nothing I love more than laying by a pool during the summer. I’m not sure if it’s the warm sun on my skin or the fact that I can take a time out from the world, but I love it, and I seize every opportunity to do so. Since I’m proclaiming myself a pro, I compiled a list of my pool essentials so that you don’t have to get up from your lounge chair, because you look oh-so-good laying there.

A good sunscreen

I’m obsessed with Bare Republic. Their products are paraben free, anti-oxidant rich and afforable! You can find them at Target. The clear gel sunscreen is a favorite. It glides on smoothly and is absorbed quickly. It is labeled sport because it’s going to last through perspiration and swimming, so throw it in your bag if you’re going to be doing more than laying by the pool! I also love the spray, but you need to make sure to rub it in well. Don’t end up like this family.

A killer hat

I love my big floppy hat. I found it on a recent trip to T.J. Maxx, and there are so many good ones out there. Generally speaking, hats make such a statement, and hanging by the pool is no exception. Not only will you look super chic, but you’ll also give your face and hair some protection from the sun (still apply sunscreen).  Check out my recommendations below.

Stunna shades

Is anyone still saying that, or am I dating myself and my college days with that description? Oops! I’m tellin you, if your sunglass game isn’t on point this summer, it’s not too late but you need to get on it! 🙂 I love practical Wayfarers and aviators, but if you usually don’t mix it up when it comes to your eyewear or even your day-to-day wardrobe, maybe test the waters a little bit with some trendy sunglasses. Here’s some inspiration.

A flattering swimsuit

Everyone needs a swimsuit that looks good on them. And when I say looks good, I don’t necessarily mean what society thinks you should have on. I mean one that makes you feel comfortable and confident. Currently, I feel like a one piece suit has looked great on me so I’ve stayed in that lane. I love how everything feels secure and it gives my no-hip body a little bit of curve. Maybe you feel more confident in a two-piece, tankini, or high-waisted bottom. Whatever the case, rock the hell out of it. Without apologies. Below are some of my favorite one pieces, including mine that’s pictured and the two piece version.

Good reading material

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good trashy magazine on a flight or by the pool, but it’s nice to change it up and dive into a book. Before you know it, you’ll be done, and you will have learned something. I don’t read often, but when I do, it’s a mixture of romantic fiction, autobiographies, and self-help! I’ve linked a few below that I either have and love, or will be diving into soon!
