This past weekend CJ and I had the opportunity to escape to the Sandman Hotel in Santa Rosa. Our schedule was simple: sleep in, chill by the pool, and go to a nice dinner. I’m proud to share that Mission: Accomplished. 🙂
The Sandman Hotel is located right off of the 101, one hour from San Francisco and less than two from Sacramento. If I had to describe the Sandman in one word, it would be whimsical! It’s bright, airy and welcoming upon entry!
When you walk into the Sandman Hotel lobby, you’re immediately teleported to the best part of the 1970s, with all kinds of boho vibes. The hotel has illustration infused in its branding. That’s the handiwork of Ty Williams, which includes sleepy moons and rays of sunshine throughout.
The rooms at the Sandman Hotel are minimalistic yet cozy. Each room is equipped with a 37-inch flat screen HDTV (perfect for watching the Royal Wedding), kitchenette amenities (refrigerator and microwave) and Malin & Goetz bath products (I’m now obsessed with their Rum Body Wash). We had a cute little sitting area as well, so if you are planning a getaway with friends in multiple rooms, you have some room for light entertaining… or even a place to work. The Sandman Hotel also has double rooms and a family suite!
This indoor-outdoor space, complete with a retractable glass garage-door, offers al fresco ambiance with locally crafted wine & beer and wine cocktails (hellooooo, Frozé). You can also order nibbles like chips + salsa, hummus + veggies, cheese plates and more. The Pool House and Bar is open Wednesday-Saturday from 11am – 8pm.
This summer, the Sandman Hotel is the home of Summer Nights events. Enjoy live music, some of Sonoma County’s favorite food trucks and beverages from the pool bar. Here’s the list of the remaining dates:
Friday, June 29th: Got Balls Meatball Factory with live music by Three for Silver
Friday, August 17th: The Bodega with live music by Pangea FC

We had a great time and can’t wait to go back again soon! There is so much to do in Santa Rosa!
Since we literally watched TV, sat by the pool and chilled at the Sandman Hotel , we didn’t do tooooo much in the town, but here are some things to do, and look for an extended list in the future. If you’re familiar with the area, please leave your suggestions in the comments.
