Hey y’all! How’s the week going? I’m already dreaming about the weekend, especially because of the longer days we’re enjoying due to the time change!
When spring weather arrives, it’s standard for me to do a closet switch, exchanging the heavier fabrics for lighter, more colorful ones. But, there’s one fabric I’m not letting go of just yet and that’s velvet. You may remember when I donned the velvet blazer last holiday season, but this little number from the Who What Wear collection at Target got some play too. The best part? It was quickly discounted and I found this velvet wrap dress for only $12! Now that’s something to dance about!
No matter what fabric, you never want to turn down a wrap dress. It’s the most flattering dress for all body types. While I can wear this velvet wrap dress on warmer spring nights without so many layers, it was important for me to add some extra elegance to the slip dress and tee shirt look. I accomplished this with three key items in my wardrobe:
Yes, I have a middle name in addition to my two last names! When I went into the GiGi New York store, they were able to accommodate my name!
Dress: Who What Wear via Target
Tee: Old Navy
Jacket: Banana Republic
Shoes: Kenneth Cole New York
Purse: GiGi New York
Lipstick Shade: LORAC Alter Ego

I know that I mentioned velvet during the spring season and I want you to know that yes, YOU, can wear your velvet too. Velvet is a beautiful, luxurious fabric and depending on how your item was crafted, can be very lightweight and flowy, like my velvet wrap dress. When you’re looking at the velvet items in your closet, here are a few things to consider. Think about what velvet piece you’re going to wear. Blazer? Maybe not, but a dress, skirt or shoes would be a good option for spring! These items allow velvet to be more of an accent piece rather than the focus. Velvet in various shades also adds a lovely accent to your spring outfits. Greys, pinks, and blues are all nice for the season. Don’t forget you can always pair your velvet with different textures like cotton and denim to make it more casual. 🙂
