Oh, the fitted sheath dress! Perfect for a day at the office or a night on the town. On a recent trip to Crossroads Trading Co., I found this fabulous grey dress and I couldn’t wait to get home and style it.
Grey is one of my favorite neutrals and honestly, to me, it’s the new black! It goes with everything and is a bit more of a summer friendly color than black is, yet it’s still conservative enough for the office. I was most excited to style this for “after hours,” adding some edge with this spike necklace, dark lips and some color block strappy sandals. With such a bulky necklace, a smaller earring is a must for balance.

I can’t lie, I was definitely feeling sassy in this dress! While I styled it for happy hour and a mixer, if you’re wearing this type of dress to the office, it’s easy to throw on a standard black pump and a black blazer if you have a meeting. Depending on what type of office setting you work in, it may be best to leave the necklace off and add it on before you jet out to your post-5pm appointment. 🙂
So, can we talk about how I struck GOLD at Crossroads with finding the dress AND the shoes? This dress is originally from Anthro and I got it for a steal of deal ($14 at the Stockton outlet location), and these brand new Chinese Laundry heels ($16 at the Roseville location) sealed it. That’s why I love Crossroads. They handpick the season’s best so that we can have first dibs at a fraction of the price. Worried they don’t have your size or style? There is seriously something for everyone: the hipsters, the conservatives, the classics, the glammys (yes, I made that up), the bohos – you name it! And they’re quality items, too, with the inventory changing daily.
Connect with Crossroads by visiting their website as well as their Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest accounts. If you live in Northern CA like I do, follow their special regional account that shows what’s in the stores closest to you!
