Today you get a double dose on The Lipstick Giraffe: a bit of style for the ladies and the fellas. Me and my mister went to the California State Fair for a fun weeknight excursion. One thing that any fair goer knows is that it is ALWAYS HOT. While some may ignore the weather and wear whatever they feel for the sake of making a statement, the majority of attendees dress to stay cool. But staying cool doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style.
As a child, I looked forward to summer every year for two reasons: my birthday in August, and the Fair came to town. Back then, it used to start on my birthday week and run through Labor Day, but in recent years they have changed the dates for a couple of weeks in July. Hitting up the fair in my adult life hasn’t been on my list of must-do’s, but I made it a point to visit this year, and the fact that I am an AT&T GoPhone Ambassador made visiting even sweeter.

Because it’s so hot, shorts, a sundress or a romper must be in rotation. I wanted to wear something that was breathable, yet comfortable and vibrant. This romper from Old Navy did the trick. With hints of hot pink and neon yellow, the colors melded perfectly with the lights on the rides and the colorful prizes hanging at the game booths. My go-to purse for festivities like this is my crossbody bag. It keeps all of my essentials close to me, fashionably of course.

For the gentleman in your life, opt for an outfit that is “easy with a dash of interesting.” Basic staples like a premium white v-neck and khaki shorts are perfect for a warm casual evening out. The dash of interesting was found in this amazing fedora from Goorin Bros. A fitted cap or a hat with a larger brim could’ve been the winner, but this fedora tied the look together.
