A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending the StarKist Selects E.V.O.O. lunch here in Northern California and it was a lovely and delicious time with other bloggers in the region!
Warmer temps and cute dresses rank at the top of the list, but al fresco dining is really what I love about summer. The StarKist team set up the most beautiful Tuscan spread complete with an Italian Soda Bar! Of course I indulged, and of course, I added a touch of cream to my soda!
I always love meeting new people and the conversations that come up. This time, we were all in agreement: As wonderful as summer is, the debate of what to have for dinner on a hot evening can be exhausting! I know some of you reading this can understand. If your household is anything like mine, sometimes this can be debilitating until hanger sets in. That’s when bad choices are made and that isn’t going to work for this bride-to-be.
Part of the “What’s for dinner?” struggle is not wanting to turn on the oven or stove because it’s already hot. Sometimes, I barely have an appetite but know that I need to eat something more than just a little fruit here and there.
Following the luncheon, I am so happy to have a healthy and flavorful solution to our problem: recipes with StarKist Selects E.V.O.O. Tuna and Salmon.
I was thrilled to enjoy creations by some amazing food bloggers using the StarKist Selects E.V.O.O. pouches in tuna and salmon. The recipes really showed me that it doesn’t take a lot to make a healthy and tasty choice in the comfort of my own home with just a few ingredients!
I mean, just look at this Pineapple and Tri-Colored Vegetable Noodle Salad that East End Taste created! It was just as tasty as it looks, and I couldn’t believe that the salmon for the dish came from a pouch! It was so fresh.
Let me count the reasons why you should give StarKist Selects E.V.O.O. pouches a try in your summer cooking…and beyond!
First, the ingredients in StarKist Selects E.V.O.O. are simply made with just tuna or salmon, a little salt, and extra virgin olive oil. I like to know what I’m putting in my body, and the fact that the fish is wild caught and not farmed is just an extra bonus. Clearly, StarKist knows this is important to consumers and I appreciate them changing the game with this product.
Second, the taste and texture of the fish. This is not the tuna I grew up on. Not even close! The wild-caught tuna and salmon E.V.O.O. pouches have a tender flake with a rich flavor thanks to the olive oil. The fish isn’t soaked in it; it’s just enough of the healthy fat that you need.
Third, it’s quicker than waiting in a drive-thru. While creating a recipe is nice and all, you could literally grab a pouch, maybe some veggies & hummus if you’re really hungry, tear it open and get on your way. No cooking required is fine by me!
I am so grateful for the opportunity to attend the StarKist Selects E.V.O.O. lunch! It really changed my view on what canned and pouched products really are. Just watch out – there may be a recipe on the blog soon!
I can’t wait to hear what you think. If you have a favorite recipe using tuna or salmon, please share it in the comments.
