Pantry Organization Tips and Tricks

The Kachet Life - Pantry Organization Tips

I would never ever call myself a neat freak, but there’s no denying the fact that I’ve turned into one since organizing my pantry with items from The Container Store. I had no idea I would appreciate the update so much!

In an attempt to get things in order at my house, I enlisted the help of Carly of Tidy Revival to get the house organized, starting with the garage. It was full of family and childhood mementos, props and things I use for my events, off-season clothes, and more. It was the “catch all” for all miscellaneous items. I know you can relate to the closet you close as fast as you open it so nothing falls out. Yeah, that was us.

After the garage project went oh-so well, I decided I wanted to use our next session to focus on one of my favorite rooms of the house: the kitchen, making the pantry neat and organized with everything visible. Being the “home chef” that I am, having a pantry that I could literally “shop” for my next meal made the experience a dream come true.

The Before

Gosh, I know I can’t effectively do this pantry organization project justice until I show you the before. I’ll be completely honest. There wasn’t a lot of thought put into how to organize the kitchen. Unlike my last home, there was an abundance of cabinets, drawers and a pantry/storage closet to store all of the things. And all of the things, they did. Before we knew it, the “extras” closet ended up turning into the home for all kitchen and entertaining items and NOT organized at all.

After using products from The Container Store

It’s been over 90 days with the new and improved pantry and it still looks like Carly and I just completed the project!

I’ve found that once it was organized and everything had a place, it’s been nearly impossible to mess up. The added bonus is that by being able to clearly see everything, we make a point to use the items that we have stored, which boosts creativity in cooking and prevents overspending at the grocery store!

Some Pantry Organization Tips For You to Try:

  • Create a theme. There are so many products and color schemes you could go with. I chose a crisp white with wire baskets so I can see what everything is with just a glimpse. The OXO Pop containers are everything!
  • Decide on a labeling system. The dry pantry items have a white label on the back of all of them so nothing ever gets confused. You could choose to have your labels outer facing and there are a lot of fun stickers, but I like this sleek look.
  • Think about what you use the most and plan accordingly. Because I’m reaching for spices and oils more often than not, I wanted those to be easily visible and reachable.
