Trader Joe’s is my spot for many reasons, but one of the best items to purchase there are the flowers. With bouquets at various price points and styles, I’m a sucker for them. It doesn’t help that they are the first thing you see when you walk through the doors of my local one. This $5.99 bouquet had a great variety of summer flowers, and with a little bit of trimming and thoughtful arranging, my inexpensive bouquet transformed into something special.
While it’s great to pick up a bouquet of flowers if you’re entertaining or a special occasion, I believe in flowers for ALL occasions. Lately I’ve been getting back into Pinterest, and I’ve been getting major flower arranging motivation. I decided to put my recently learned flower hacks to the test.
Florist tape is the first step in helping your arrangement look its best. I didn’t have any florist tape (I didn’t even know that that was a thing until a few hours ago), so I used some Scotch tape leftover from the holidays, and tore it down the middle to make each piece thinner.
You want to make a grid-like pattern across the top of the vase so that you can place your flowers in one of the squares. These squares are rather small, and depending on the size of your vase and flowers, you may opt to make them larger.
Then the trimming began. I started with the green pieces first, and then started to add in the flowers.
Once finally arranged, I trimmed any excess tape along the sides, did a final fluff of flowers, and slowly poured water into the vase with one of my old Liquidology bottles. This probably took me a total of 7-10 minutes, including creating the tape grid!
Because these flowers are just going in my living room, I’m not particular about the stems showing through the clear vase, but if you would like to take a hostess gift or are preparing them for a centerpiece, feel free to wrap some burlap around them, or piece of cloth. Talk about being the hostess with the mostess on a whim! WOO!
If you try this at home, be sure to share a photo on social media and tag it with #thelipstickgiraffe. Looking forward to seeing those arrangements!

That tape tip is on point tough, gracias! xoxo, ganeeban
Beautiful arrangement! Quick thinking with the tape! Trader Joe’s is my favorite go-to for quick and lovely flowers for my events. In fact, the floral manager at most Trader Joe’s will even try to order the flowers you want if you chat with him/her the week before. It’ll be whatever they are currently selling:)
Big hugs!

Such a great idea, I used to buy fresh flowers every Friday when I was single, now I enjoy an occasional dozen of roses from hubby.
Love this amazing tip! Thank you!
