It’s Fall, y’all and if you haven’t seen that expression enough on the internet already, there’s one more time to get you excited! When I think of fall activities and how to celebrate fall, kid activities usually come to mind, like going to pumpkin patches, apple picking and more. I never gave much thought to adult fun, but there are so many things that we all do to celebrate fall and welcome the new season!
I thought about some of the things I do during this time of year and I rounded them up here for you. Of course, there’s been some modifications due to living in COVID times, but that’s no reason to stop celebrating. We’ve got to celebrate everyday with the kinds of things that are happening in our world. How you celebrate is up to you.
I hope that my list of 25 ways to celebrate fall serves as inspiration to seize the day and make every occasion a little extra special.
25 Ways for Adults to Celebrate Fall
- Bring out the fall candles and incense: pumpkin, vanilla, sandalwood and are my favorites.
- Pick up some pumpkins and decorate your porch!
- Carve them closer to Halloween.
- Bake breads, muffins and pies. I love this pecan pie recipe by Gimme Some Oven, and the caramel cake by Grandbaby Cakes can’t be missed!
- Take all of your summer clothing out of your closet that won’t be used in your summer to fall transition wardbrove. Make sure everything is clean and repaired before packing away for the season.
- Shine all of your boots and repair any heels that are worn down.
- Schedule a fall session with a photographer. On a budget? Take your tripod and set a self time on your phone – or take a killer selfie with autumn leaved trees behind you.
- Buy a new lipstick or lip gloss for the season. My all time favorite is Diva by MAC. A new favorite is B Remarkable by Lilah Beauty.
- Make soups to nourish you. My chicken soup is a weekly staple in our house when the temps dip.
- Roast pumpkin seeds and add them to soups, breads and more.
- Change out your throw pillows (or pillow covers) with autumnal shades and patterns.
- Forage for wild flowers and twigs on your next walk. Add them to a vase and place on a table or shelf.
- Add a fun textured or colored throw to your bed.
- Treat yourself to some slipper socks for shufflin’ around the house.
- Plant fall/winter herbs and produce. Think it’s too late? Check out this article that shares what will thrive!
- Wine lover? Take part in a virtual tasting. Your favorite wineries are most likely hosting private Zoom ones. Maybe you should recreate the dinner that I did with Sean Minor Wines virtually! Sean + Nicole are a delight 🙂
- Listen to and watch the fireplace. No fireplace? Check out Netflix to get one on your TV or listen to fire crackle on Calm’s YouTube channel.
- Take an afternoon bike ride or stroll and watch as the leaves fall. Don’t forget a scarf in case it gets chilly.
- Put apple cider in the Crock-Pot for when you return home. Get some mulling spices from The Allspicery.
- Speaking of the Crock-Pot, make at least one meal a week in there to save yourself some time. There are so many recipes on Pinterest.
- You can even make oatmeal in there, too. Here’s my recipe. I added peaches and blackberries, but apples + cinnamon sound delightful. Even persimmons!
- Make (or just write) greeting cards to send to your friends. Snail mail is always a nice surprise.
- Start a new book and set a timer to read for at least 15 minutes every day.
- Change your social media profile photo. Hey, you don’t have to be an influencer to do so!
- Make change and VOTE in the upcoming election! If you need to register or check your status, you can learn more at vote.gov.
