Have you kept your morning routine the same with all of the changes in our world? Even with a shelter-in-place lifestyle, keeping my daily routine going and taking care of my body is super important. I don’t know about you, but sometimes it’s not an easy task!
The majority of my days are spent at home, mostly in my newly decorated office, or sometimes at the dining table (so I can keep my eye on the puppy), but if I’m packing to go out anywhere, it’s usually to run a quick household errand or to shoot content in a studio. Either way, I find that when I start the day on the right note, that a lot of the “pieces” fall into place. Why don’t we call it the laying the foundation for the day? My foundation involves a few steps to get me in the right mindset.
Oral health is important every day and while on weekends I totally veg out, having clean teeth is one thing that I can’t let slip. I was shocked at how sleek and modern the hum by Colgate ® Smart Electric toothbrush was when it arrived at my home, and it totally makes the mundane experience of brushing my teeth a little more luxurious. Sure, the hum comes in 3 beautiful colors, purple, teal and blue, but that’s not the only thing that makes it special.
The toothbrush connects to the hum by Colgate ® app as well as the Apple Health app to track my oral health with daily summaries of how well I brushed, how long I brushed for, and a mouth map outlining areas where I may have missed. Smart sensor technology in the brush allow it to be connected, showing you where you brush, and helping you target those spots that need extra attention!

Am I the only one with a water glass on their nightstand? Sometimes they accumulate, but that’s not the point. I keep water next to the bed because I have no excuse for not getting my intake up right when I wake up. If it’s next to me, I’ll drink it. It is the perfect way to make sure I’m flushing out toxins and hydrating my body after a night’s rest.
I spend so much of my day looking at a screen, whether it is my laptop or my phone, so I try to reserve that time until I’ve at least made it downstairs for breakfast. I’m sure we’ve all wondered where the time went after we caught ourselves in “Scrollville” for what seemed like a minute (it was really 30). Sometimes the days go by fast, but I have comfort in knowing that I’m not letting valuable morning hours slip away with the distraction. If you have a hum by Colgate toothbrush and you’re saying no to the scroll like I am, you don’t have to have your phone near you every time you brush; it can store 10 days of data to sync up later!
I keep the lights low when I shower. I know that some people say that a shower wakes them up, but for me, it feels more like a spa when I take my time and ease into the day. If I have the extra time to enjoy, I will add some essential oils to the basin so that I can have some calming aromatherapy to get me in the right mindset for the day.
Yes, I still get dressed to go somewhere, even if it’s just to my office. They say dress for the job you want, and while some days are easier for me to keep my routine than others, I find that my productivity skyrockets when I am not lounging in my pajamas. When I feel good, I do better work, and I hope that my fellow video meeting participants understand where I’m coming from!
As you can see, I take some very crucial steps for the foundation of my day so that I’m not losing any of my daily healthy habits. Do we share any similarities? I’d love to know how you’re faring!
