If you’ve been following along on my healthy lifestyle journey this year, then you know I’ve been making some major changes. I can’t lie, it feels great when others notice, and it’s even more rewarding when I notice it in action. This journey has been a lot easier than I could’ve imagined and I believe it’s because I’m truly dedicated to being more mindful about what my mind, body, and soul need.
The countdown to 2020 is on and while I’ve been earning 1.5% cash back on every purchase with my Chase Freedom Unlimited card this year, I’m stocking up my cash back to reward myself after closing out a busy 2019. The best way I can think to celebrate is to plan a retreat for myself to completely relax, reset, and gain peace of mind. For the past three years, I’ve taken part in an unplugged weekend to celebrate my birthday in August and in the end, I always say I shouldn’t wait until my next birthday to do it, so I’m making a plan and I’m sticking to it.
I haven’t taken my eye off of my goal, but one thing that caught me by surprise on this journey toward a healthier lifestyle was my emotional response to life changes. I’ve realized that when you’re growing in many areas of your life, you’re put in a position to accept a version of yourself that you didn’t know existed. Even though you may really like this version, you are saying goodbye to old habits and thoughts that at one point had provided you comfort and security but have actually been holding you back. I’m glad that I’ve stuck through this transition and focused on my goals.
I’ve said it before, but it really helps to have a support system. My friends and family ask me questions about the things I’m taking on and if I’m linking up with a friend for lunch, we try to choose a place that has a plethora of options, so I can find something healthy and stick to my goals. Finally biting the bullet and working with a trainer has helped a lot too. At the beginning of my sessions, he asked me what my fitness goals were. Oddly enough, I didn’t have any beyond just wanting to move my body and getting my heart going. Buying a multi-session pass instead of paying per individual session has helped me toward my goals in more ways than one.
First being, I save on the price of each session by paying for a block of them at once. Second, I’m earning cash back with my cash back credit card when I buy them. Third, I really have to go because I’ve already paid for the classes, and we can’t be out here just letting our money go to waste, now can we?
No matter if your goal is to live a healthier lifestyle, get more organized, or even save more money, it’s easier to do it when you’re earning cash back on your everyday purchases. Chase is now offering new Chase Freedom Unlimited cardmembers a special bonus available through Chase.com and in Chase branches. New cardmembers can receive a $200 bonus after spending $500 in the first three months.
Now is the time to start thinking about what kind of intentions you want to set as we get ready to welcome a new year. A dash of determination and being kind to yourself will add up to a big reward. I can’t wait to hear how you plan to use your bonus to get toward your goal!
