Thank you so so much for your support of my announcement in my Week 1 post. I’m very excited about tackling this project with you all and really appreciate your support and suggestions.

I’m going to keep it honest, Week 2 was a little anti-climatic. A TON is in progress right now which is going to set the tone for the remaining weeks, so please stick with me through this process. Here’s a little update on where I’m at with One Room Challenge.

What’s In Progress

My coffee and end tables have arrived in Sacramento and my couch should be arriving before the end of this coming week. The Article team coordinates delivery so they can set up the furniture right where you want it. I am really excited about this full-service experience and will be sharing it in my update next week.

Because the couch is going to be the focal point of the room, it’s been pretty hard to move forward on anything else, including wall coverings, art, lighting, and curtains. I’m currently thinking through what to do with a big blank white wall in my apartment. I polled my followers in my Instagram stories and here are some of the suggestions:

• Photo gallery wall
• Bold, statement wallpaper
• Plant wall
• Mural by a local artist
• Tapestry

A lot of these were repeated by people, so I’m definitely up on what’s trending. 😉

I have to say, after some careful thought, I’m really contemplating painting it or adding wallpaper, and then purchasing some large, dramatic frames with a mix of abstract art and photos that I’ve taken while traveling.

Operation Upcycle Console

My friend Christie and her family are unloading their TV console in their family room, and it just so happens to be the color that I am looking for to coordinate with my couch! This is part of the BESTA system at IKEA in a color they no longer make.

Because I’m a lady that loves a gilded touch, I am going to remove the pulls and spray paint them so they have a brass-like finish. Totally open to your thoughts on that, but I think it’ll look so so good!

Checking out the Sac ReStore

After getting a ton of recommendations on Instagram, I visited the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Sacramento in search of a wood dining table and whatever other odds and ends I might find. The perfect way to describe the store is Goodwill meets The Home Depot, so one has to visit with an open mind!

I didn’t make out like the dining table bandit that I planned to, but I did find this bamboo lamp that is giving me all kinds of Palm Springs/MCM vibes. The biggest decision that has yet to be made is to keep the lamp as-is or paint it. At first, I thought to make it muted gold, and then I was thinking about matte black. We’ll see what happens, but either way, the lampshade will be as fly as the base.

Getting Ready for Spring with West Elm

I am a long time fan of west elm, and I was so thrilled when they opened their Sacramento location at the Ice Blocks last summer!

I’ve been to the store numerous times, but this time was so much more fun being able to have my One Room Challenge glasses on. I was able to identify some pieces that I think would bring the vision altogether. The rug that I shared in my living room mockup is from west elm. Isn’t it lovely?!

As part of my partnership with them, we collaborated on a TV segment and shared some spring entertaining inspiration on Studio40Live this past Friday. I always love sharing how you can elevate your guest experience, and this season it’s all about splashes of color. Click to check out the segment!
