At long last, Sacramento has a Drybar! I say it like that because it has been talked about for quite some time, and many of us were unsure if the rumors were true. But, they were, and after its long-anticipated arrival, Drybar Sacramento is here! YAY! Conveniently located at the newly renovated University Village on Howe Avenue, Drybar is going to be my second favorite hangout (the first is my house).
If you aren’t familiar with Drybar, they are a boutique chain with 69 blowout salons that offer styling services exclusively. No cuts, no color, just blowouts (and updos). I think many of you will agree, but to me, there is nothing like a good blowout. That “I just got my hair done” feeling. I love when my natural hair is straightened really well. It has so much body and shine, and I’m pretty sure I even walk with a little bit of a bounce! Haha. I can absolutely do it on my own, but I really like when someone else does it for me, and I know my arms and shoulders do, too. 😉
No matter which Drybar you visit, you’ll immediately notice that you are in an Instagram-friendly environment. 🙂 Marble countertops line the halls, with glass displays of products and flat-screen TVs on each side playing chick flicks, most notably on my visit, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.
I was escorted to my seat with a glass of champagne and was given the lookbook to choose my blowout style. My 4C curls smooth out so nicely with a little bit of heat and tension, but I needed a stylist who wasn’t afraid to tackle the curl. I was super impressed with how all of the stylists are trained to tackle all types of hair. I ended up selecting the signature blowout, the Straight Up. From there, it was time to get my hair washed, which is my favorite part of getting my hair done!
I live for a good scalp rub, rich lather in my hair and head massage, and Drybar didn’t disappoint. Add The Floater to your service and you’ll enjoy 10 minutes of tension-releasing relaxation bliss like I did!
You can also add on treatments for hydration and strength, too. [Learn about their services here]
Each station has a USB port so if you’re always running low on battery like I am, you can charge without looking for the nearest wall socket. I caught on emails and did some Instagramming while enjoying my service.
The biggest surprise and delight of them all was how straight my stylist got my hair and how fast the service was! After blow drying my hair, a flat iron was used for some touchups, but honestly, it looked good as it was! From start to finish, I was done within the hour.
Notice I said done and not out? HA! That’s because I stuck around to take part in some of the grand opening festivities. The team had a fabulous celebration complete with balloons, sweet treats, and a DJ, and it seems like every time I tried to leave, the beat dropped and… you know…I had to stick around!
I often get a wild hair and want to change the curls up, so I’m so happy to have Drybar Sacramento available to hook me up. If you are one that loves a good blowout like I do, check them out. If you’re really into them, consider getting the membership, where you get 2 blowouts a month, an additional one on your birthday, discounts on products and best of all: your blowouts roll over if you don’t use them in a month.
