Coolsculpting has been a topic in conversations amongst friends and after doing some research, I was considering having some done. If you’ve been following me on Facebook and Instagram, you’ve noticed I’ve been talking about Coolsculpting because just a couple of weeks ago, I had my first treatment at Granite Bay Cosmetic Surgery.
Since then, I received a lot of questions through messenger and via text and decided to answer them in this post. 🙂 While Coolsculpting has no downtime and is an easier way to remove unwanted pockets of fat, it’s not to be taken lightly and a consultation is required before undergoing treatment.
At my initial consultation, the team at Granite Bay Cosmetic and I concluded that we would treat my abdominal area over my arms and inner thighs. The consultation was great because I was able to ask all my questions as well as go through the order of operations during my treatment so there were no surprises. The main question I’ve received since getting it done is if I would do it again. I can’t say yet because I won’t see my results for a few more weeks! Patience is key after doing Coolsculpting, but there is a lot more to know. Keep scrolling!
CoolSculpting is an FDA-approved non-surgical fat reduction treatment that uses controlled cooling to eliminate fat in targeted areas. In short, Coolsculpting freezing fat cells. Over time, the frozen fat cells die off and your body metabolizes them naturally. As long as you maintain a healthy lifestyle, the results from Coolsculpting will be permanent.
If you are generally happy with how you look but have some stubborn fat in a certain area, then Coolsculpting may be for you! It won’t make you lose weight, but it will help you look better in clothes and give you a more sculpted look.
I’m making a few changes in my life now that 30 is on the horizon and after talking about it for a while doing the research, I decided that it was a great way for me to remove some lingering abdominal fat.
They advise you to come as you are. I didn’t eat the morning of my session because I was paranoid about my stomach region, but I would absolutely suggest that you do because it doesn’t matter. I actually ate some snacks during the session. Since you’re confined to the chair during your treatment time, I’d make sure your digital devices are charged and bring a magazine, book, or activity to keep you busy.
It feels like a bag of ice or box of popsicles is chillin’ (literally) on your skin. It stays cold but it doesn’t burn like ice can on the skin. You feel the intense cold for about 5 minutes and then it gets “ice numb.” The suction of the device doesn’t hurt either. It just feels like there is a firm hold on your skin. Rebecca, my technician talked through every single step and asked me if I was okay and comfortable along the way. It was a really great experience.
My treatment times were between 35-45 minutes each cycle. Depending on the area you’re treating, it could take up to an hour each cycle.
For about a week after my procedure, I was feeling pretty sore. Imagine doing 200 sit-ups combined with your stomach area feeling hard and bloated. This was for a couple of reasons. One, the abdominal area is one of the most sensitive areas for healing since it’s the core of your body movements. Second, I went through eight cycles when the average person does four. There’s nothing unsafe with doing the number of cycles that I did, but it does prolong your ability to bounce back 100%. For that reason, I wouldn’t recommend it if you have something important to do within a week, like a big work presentation or going on vacation, because how you feel may affect your mood.
It’s only been two weeks since my procedure so I’m not seeing any major results as of yet. You can start seeing results in about a month following your treatment, but your true results will be reflected in up to 12 weeks. The waiting game is real! I will say though that last week I wore a dress that I wore on Easter without Spanx. I wasn’t Skinny Minnie or anything but I didn’t look as stuffed in it as I did a couple of months ago. Coincidence?
If you have any questions that weren’t answered, feel free to leave a comment below, and check out my friends at Granite Bay Cosmetic. They are having a special Coolscuplting event today and the next one is on July 24th, but you can call them anytime for a consultation. At the event, you’ll have a private 15-minute assessment with their Coolsculpting technician to make sure you are a good candidate, and if you are, you can purchase your treatment package that day at a discount when you make your appointment. $50 holds your spot and if you are not a candidate for the treatment, you get your $50 back. Can’t beat that. You can find more information on all of their events here.

I’ll look forward to hearing more about your results as this is something that I have been considering thank you for sharing
My pleasure! So far, so good! But I can’t wait for it to be August so we can truly see! 🙂
I would second the comment about considering the procedure when you know your upcoming schedule is a bit more sedentary! Can’t wait to see/hear about your results 🙂
This is awesome that someone I KNOW is getting this done because I’ve been interested in this for the last three years! You’ll have to come visit my office to share your final ‘after’. 🙂
Thanks for sharing! I had a baby 9 months ago and a little targeted fat burning would be most welcome. I might try this!
Thanks for sharing your coolsculpt experience. I have been seriously debating whether or not to do this for about a year now. I would really love to get updates as to the progress you’ve seen since your first posting, even though the results are not yet complete.
