Hey y’all! I was so excited when the Word of Mouth show on KCRA premiered because I could finally share more with everyone! Since we filmed over the summer, it was quite the secret to hold. But I did it and I’m so happy with how it turned out! Being in Sacramento, we are close to many different places that people travel thousands of miles to experience. Compared to that, these spots are just around the corner from us and are totally worth the visit. If a day trip is not on your list of things to do, add it on there now! I hope you enjoy my segment from the pilot. I included a little bit more about the places we visited below.
Right off of I-80, you’ll find Saelee’s. Yes, the strawberries are as good as you’d think they were and you can buy a basket all the way up to a flat of them. I enjoyed these so much when I got home! You’ll also be delighted to find other delicious produce available. Bring cash and change, maybe more than you think you will need because so many other things will catch your eye.
Saelee’s Strawberry Farm, 7864 Schroder Road, Dixon, CA. Open daily late May through November, 9am – 7pm.
Summer in Yolo County means SUNFLOWERS! You can drive on any back road and you just may be pleasantly surprised by them. It’s amazing! Sometimes you have to drive around to find a field, but you only have a short window to do so. They start to appear in late June and are usually crips from the sun by August. Mueller Farms in Woodland is known for always having amazing sunflowers. If you plan to visit them next year, please be respectful of the property you are on, and respect the flowers themselves. Sure we enjoy them, but they do serve an agricultural purpose. Don’t stomp on them and take your time getting close to them.
A couple of my wine-loving friends suggested that I check out Matchbook Wines, but it had taken me a while to put the plan in motion. I was so excited to visit this place…and once I arrived, I knew why everyone was saying that I had to get out there. The tasting room is surrounded by hills with vines rolling down them. You really feel like you’re on vacation, except you’re just 30 minutes away from home. It’s the perfect place to take your girls or anyone you want to spend some quality time with, in a beautiful setting. While the wine is good, don’t sleep on the olive oil. I bought a bottle after having a taste.
Matchbook Wine Company, 12300 County Rd 92B, Woodland, CA 95695
Park Winters is one of my favorite places ever – and I try to take part in activities there whenever I can. From corporate events to weddings, to farm dinners and other seasonal activities, Park Winters makes moments just a little more magical and we were able to experience a sunset picnic overlooking the valley. Their award-winning chef and kitchen will make sure you have all of your dinnerware, glassware & flatware included. In addition to specially curated experiences, Park Winters hosts farm dinners. I’ve been and they’re fantastic!
Park Winters, 27850 County Road 26, Winters, CA 95694
