Happy Fall, y’all!
Now that cooler weather is in store for us, I’m looking forward to enjoying many warm cocktails. My favorite is the hot toddy. It is always good and appropriate, especially when you are under the weather. The brandy (or whisky) is great for a sore, irritated throat.
I made this version recently because I wasn’t feeling well. Surprisingly, I had all of the ingredients lying around to make a pretty delicious drink which I’m dubbing, “TLG’s Hot Toddy.” Forget all the extras – It’s simple, and does the job.
My grandmother always had some brandy in her cabinet. I am assuming it was for times like this! I started by boiling some hot water.
While the kettle was on, I began on the other steps. First, I swirled honey on the bottom of my mug.
Next, I poured in a shot of brandy (Shout out to the coolest dive in the French Quarter – the Erin Rose)…
Then came the lemon. For these little ones, I ended squeezing both.
Lastly, I added my teabag and hot water with a slice of lemon, sprinkle of allspice and let it steep for 7 minutes.
Squeeze the bag out, remove and voila! You’ve got yourself a hot toddy!
So go on ahead, fix this up and sit on the couch with a cozy blanket. You can thank me later!
Enjoy your first night of fall!
xoxo,
TLG
