Y’all! It’s been on and poppin’ when it comes to One Room Challenge. I’m sorry that I have been lagging on these blog post updates, but my Instagram story game has been strong (you can catch up by checking out the highlight button on my profile called OneRoomChallenge). If you ever want to see how the project is going, be sure to follow me and check my stories daily. It’s real, unfiltered and I will guarantee you a laugh.
For a while, it was feeling like I had all of the time in the world to figure out my ORC situation, and then I looked at the calendar today and realized I have less than two weeks. Pressure? No. I work well under it. Or maybe I don’t. 🙂 But somehow, everything always works out.
When it comes to my living/dining space, all of the pieces are finally coming together and this week will be a pivotal point in the project. Admittedly, this is going to be a big but fun rush to the finish line. A lot has been ordered, hunted and gathered, and now it’s time to put it together. I’ve already got the troops lined up for an “all-hands-on-deck” assembly day!
Here are some quick updates and tidbits about the process.
My friend Rebecca from Studio Plumb came over to give me some advice on art. She was instrumental in helping me layout the space, and this was her first time actually setting foot in the room! My art on my gallery wall is going to be a mix of passed down pieces from my grandma’s home (pictured above), some pieces I’ve collected along the way, as well as prints of pictures that I have taken on my travels. I think the mix of old and new plus the textures will really add some richness to the room!
I am so excited to paint a wall in the living room! I have never painted in a house or apartment before as a renter, and I am so grateful to have permission to do so this time around. I think a subtle pop is going to make this place feel oh-so personal. I’m excited to be partnering with Clare on this effort. Clare was created by Nicole Gibbons, an interior designer, entrepreneur, and media correspondent. She’s a woman of color and a BH&G Stylemaker, too, so you know she’s a girl after my heart! I’m not going to spoil the surprise about the color that I chose, but I will say that it is on this swatch card. 🙂 Get ready for some fun!
I’m kind of tired of going to IKEA, but I know I’m going to have a couple more runs in me before all is said and done. What can I say? They are killin it in the frame, mirror and textile department. I picked up some curtains, rod, hooks, frames, and more!
I’m really excited to show more of the space in next week’s post. Like I said, I am sharing daily updates on my Instagram account. Be sure to follow me @thekachetlife! Don’t forget to check out all of the featured designers as well as the other guest participants). You can also be inspired by checking out the #OneRoomChallenge and #BHGORC hashtags.
I’m so happy that I’m not the only one here who’ll will work up and until the end date for this challenge!!! LOL! I’m so excited to see your finished space and thank you so much for your info regarding the Clare line of paint!!! Good stuff 🙂
All the best.
