My Eyelash Extensions: Six Months with Amazing Lash Studio

OK, maybe it’s more like eight months. Dang, time is flying. But back to the matter at hand: my eyelash extensions! I wrote about them when I got my full set in August from Amazing Lash Studio Elk Grove. Over the past few months, I’ve received questions about my experience and how my lashes are holding up, so I decided to give you all an update on all things LASH related!

Do you still have them? How are you liking them?

Yes, I haven’t taken a break since I got them done in August…and I LOVE THEM. The team at Amazing Lash Studio Elk Grove has taken care of your girl. Getting my lash extensions is a little something extra that I do to make myself feel glamorous and it doesn’t take that much more effort in my day-to-day routine.

Do they hurt?

No, the application doesn’t hurt, and they do not hurt after. If you suffer from allergies and are rubbing your eyes often, you may become irritated with your lashes. I recommend keeping some eye drops and your lash wand handy.

Do you have any of your real eyelashes left?

Yes! They are still there. My lashes are not naturally long or thick, but they still have their normal density.

How long can you go without refills?

I think this is totally personal preference and also a lifestyle check. I wear makeup a few days a week. Not a ton, but I do wear it, which means that’s oil on my face and if that gets near my lashes, it can affect the longevity. On average, I go about every 2 to 2.5 weeks for my refills. Most days I’m in and out because I’m very meticulous about my lash care, but some days one eye is looking a little crazier than the other 😉

Are they expensive?

They can be! It depends on a lot of factors: who is doing them, what the lashes are made of, and how often you get them touched up. Some are synthetic; some are mink. My Amazing Lashes are synthetic and I’ve never had an irritation. With their membership option, your lashes won’t cost you an arm and a leg.

Are they a lot of upkeep?

Not at all. I added one step in my AM and PM routines for daily maintenance!

How do you extend the life of your lashes?

I use a few different Amazing Lash Studio branded products to make sure I am getting the most out of each and every refill. I’ve tried a few other products as well, but these are my key to making my set last.

  • My Lash Styling Wand! Brushing out my lashes has avoided tangles and overlapping and I always do it after they are freshly washed.
  • The Lash Coating has been a godsend. It looks like clear mascara because of its packaging, but it’s not as thick. I usually apply my serum after my first three days for an extra layer of protection.
  • Their Foaming Eyelash  Cleanser came out a few months ago and is the most effective way I’ve kept my lashes clean. It gently removes makeup and oil so that your lashes are squeaky clean. I still use my regular cleanser to cleanse my face first.
  • I’ve worn black eyeliner on my top lids almost every day since college so I had to buy their Liquid Liner for Lash Extensions. I bought it in August when I first started and it still works like a charm. It stays put, doesn’t smudge and has a pretty matte finish considering the fact that it’s a liquid liner.

Since I started getting lashes, the company has grown in our region, with locations in Natomas, the Arden area, Roseville and Folsom, too, so make an appointment and check them out. Mention “Code 11 – The Lipstick Giraffe” for $10 off your first set.
