My hair. Well, we’ve got a thing going on and have for a few years. My naturalista came to fruition one night in July of 2011 when I mustered the courage to cut off my chemically straightened hair in the bathroom and came out with a baby fro. Over the past few years, I’ve played with different shapes of my shorter coif and with that has come the trial and error of many products. Of course when the chance to try the new Dove Pure Care Dry Oil system came around, I gladly accepted.
The new Dove Pure Care Dry Oil line is infused with African Macadamia Nut Oil to provide weightless moisture and a silky feel. And that’s exactly what it does. Aside from the results, what I loved most about the line is the scent. It’s got a musky floral scent to it, and it’s enough to where it lasts through the day. You don’t even really need to add your fragrance as it is fragrant enough. I don’t wash my hair everyday and even when I do get it wet, if I’m not using a special cleansing creme, I’m using conditioner for a co-wash. The Non-Greasy Conditioner tackled these tight curls and gave maximum slip when my wide-tooth comb hit my strands. Just like silk. When it came to styling my hair, I mixed the Dry Oil Nourishing Treatment with my favorite hair gel, applied from roots to ends, slightly coiling with my fingers as I came down the strand, and wow – my curls had major definition. I tried a different approach after seeing slicked down sides in a magazine, and brushed down my right side to add a little bit of edge. Can we agree that my curls are poppin?
I immediately wondered “Ooh, I wonder what my hair would look and feel like straightened.” It was time to dig out the blow dryer, paddle brush and flat iron. They’re kept in a bag that only sees the light of day a couple of times a year. Since I’m going on a mini-vacation this weekend and wanted to make it special, I decided the hairstyle would be it. I was in for a surprise, because I hadn’t straightened my hair since having my hair cut, specifically for curly hair. I was surprised to unveil a sassy and somewhat a-line bob, with a short right side and long front! Not only was my hair super soft, but my blow dry time was cut in half and I ended with a sleek result.
Because it’s weightless, the Nourishing Oil has been great with touch ups. I’ve been using the product for a week or so, and even after the first wash I noticed a difference. Thanks, Kristy. I’ve used a more expensive oil that shall remained nameless, and think that this is quite comparable!
Great products and I love both of your hair styles.
