Was it a dream, or was it real? Seriously, that was a question I asked myself for weeks after returning home from Dreams Vista Cancun.
Mexico is one of my favorite destinations (huge Cabo fan as you can tell here and here) for an easy fun getaway and escape. I’ve traveled through Cancun before (it’s a less than three hour flight from Dallas), but stayed in Playa del Carmen and came for a party vibe, so I was excited to return with a different energy. After doing some research on luxurious properties around “adult spring break” time, it was clear that Dreams was going to be the winner.
Dreams Vista Cancun is located in Puerto Juarez, away from the Hotel Zone and adjacent to a shopping mall and the ferry that will take you to Isla Mujeres. That was just the vibe we were going for: away but close. When you drive up to the property, the resort takes your breath away, but it’s nothing compared to when you exit your car and walk up to the piazza. That’s where you get a spectacular view of the rest of the property including the neighboring golf course, and of course, the Caribbean Sea. This was after being greeted with “Welcome Home” by the concierge.
Yes, you read that right. Welcome Home. And the resort truly felt like home for the week!
We checked in on the 9th floor in the Preferred Lounge. Now you’re probably wondering the difference between preferred and non. Well, when you upgrade to the Preferred Club, you get an “extra” luxurious experience. Is it worth the upgrade? I’d say so. Beyond getting an upgraded suite and enhanced room amenities, we had access to the preferred lounge indoor/outdoor area with light fare that rotated throughout the day with premium bar options.
The Room at Dreams Vista Cancun
Each room has smart TVs and minibars with a balcony but we stayed in a corner suite with a few more amenities and if you can do the same, do it. Walking in, it was surrounded by floor to ceiling windows with sliders on both sides of the corner. The private terrace was equipped with a lounge table and chairs as well as another seating area, which was perfect for having a light bite or working out on the patio. I coached in my Level Up Mastermind while away even though there was a separate work area in the suite. The private living area is great for lounging and watching a movie or show.
I would be remiss not to mention that Dreams Vista Cancun (and likely the other hotels in the Dreams collection) has their own soundtrack playing when you enter the room, with its course, “Must be dreaming.” If you’re wondering if the song still plays in my head sometimes, the answer is yes. 🙂
What We Did
The best part about staying at a resort like Dreams Vista Cancun is that you really don’t have to leave the property if you don’t want to. We wanted major relaxation and only left the resort a couple of times for specific experiences: a jungle boat tour (which was booked at the resort) and a day trip to Isla Mujeres via ferry.
The property boasts two surf pools, an exclusive rooftop pool, golf course, and each room features balconies or terraces with sea views.
The pool was a big hit and and yet, there was never, ever a struggle to find a good chair. The music was at a tolerable level and the drinks kept flowing thanks to their attentive staff. If you’re into pool volleyball and water aerobics, there’s something for you, too!
Spa
If there’s a spa at a hotel I’m staying at when I’m traveling, you better believe that I’m going to take advantage. Since we stayed practically a week, I booked facials for us to indulge in toward the end of the trip. With thanks to the resort that gifted us massages, we were able to enjoy the best of Dreams Spa.
Pro Tip: Book your spa appointments in the afternoon/early evening. It’s less crowded to enjoy the other amenities (i.e. sauna, steam room, plunge pools) and you will sleep like a baby.
Dining
If I’m staying at an all-inclusive, the food is honestly the number one thing for me. What about you? I’m happy to share that the food options at Dreams Vista Cancun did NOT disappoint. In fact, the food exceeded my expectations. Meals and drinks are included at 8 restaurants and 6 bars, so no matter what you have a taste for, you’re going to find something you enjoy. Our first night we dined at Portofino (Italian) and enjoyed a bottle of Malbec with our pasta dinner. As a wine enthusiast, somehow it had skipped my radar that some amazing reds come from Mexico, and we really enjoyed the Casa Madero (and I found it at Total Wine to enjoy at home – yay).
Some other favorite restaurants onsite include Bluewater Grill + Bar360 (both on the rooftop), La Plaza, Barracuda Bar (on the beach!) and Coco Cafe. We ate at Himitzu a couple of times and highly recommend the Hibachi experience. Reservations are required.
I will say, the buffet was a breakfast thing for us (I’m sure dinner is good, too) and I couldn’t get enough of the chilaquiles, huevos and chile verde with fresh tortillas. Give me a Mexican breakfast and a mimosa and I’m happy.

So, would I stay at Dreams Vista Cancun again?
Yes. Can I go back tomorrow? 🙂 While I’d love to explore additional Dreams properties, Dreams Vista Cancun checked all of the boxes and the service was impeccable. As someone who doesn’t have kids, I had some apprehension about children at the resort. But even though the resort is for couples and for couples with children, it didn’t affect our experience at all. They have separate areas for families and it seems as though the children when we were traveling were infants and toddlers.
