I am SO happy that fringe is still on trend. It’s been a favorite of mine for years, and I’ve even professed my love for it on the blog and social media over the years. Sure, I may feel a little Stevie Nicks in it, but she is pretty badass so I’ll go with it.
My favorite thing about fringe is the fact that it moves with me. Do you know what it feels like to shake your body when you’re wearing fringe? It’s so fun! It’s a carefree moment, and if only I could carry that feeling through all points of my day. Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in the bull, but I need to shake it off. You need to shake it off. We all need to shake it off.
Shake off the negativity, shake off the doubt, and shake off insecurities.
Insecurities. We all have them. Some are on greater display than others. Some we hide behind. Others are revealed only through living.
One of my biggest insecurities has come to rear its ugly head, and I’m finding myself going through a routine that is all too familiar. I’m not an expert on any of this, and it is a constant struggle for me, but these are some ways I deal with mine:
This is probably the best thing I’ve ever done. You have to allow yourself time to be upset. Get it out. If you don’t get it out, it’s going to build up inside, and it will come out at a time when you really don’t need it to. If that means you take a lunch break by yourself, play music loud in the car, cry for a few minutes, whatever – do it. After you’ve allowed yourself to feel, keep it moving and focus your energy on something that’ll benefit your growth in the long run.
Surrounding yourself with good people and those that build you up is crucial. Sometimes you need to get some shit off of your chest, and it’s good to have those that know you best listen and help put things into perspective. This is a two-way street, though, so be ready to be a supportive sounding board when your friend needs it back.
I am not perfect, but there are many qualities that I have (and you have to) that are worth celebrating. Celebrating what you have versus focusing on what you don’t, whether it’s a characteristic or a tangible item, will totally change your attitude. Write yourself a love letter. Put on the outfit that you feel like a badass in. Open that bottle of champagne that you were saving for company, for yourself.
It’s easier said than done, but try it the next time you catch yourself spinning out of control and see if it doesn’t help. You may have to do it t a couple of times before you feel the results. Trust the process.

You have absolutely NO idea how badly I needed to read this post tonight. It’s been such a crap day and I was feeling super down on myself, but halfway through this I just took a deep breath and realized how right you are. I gotta shake it off, pick myself up, and move on. Humming Taylor Swift as I’m heading to bed. Thank you for sharing!

Love how you paired this skirt with the floral top!! So cute!
Perfect tips, Kachet! One of my favorite things to do when I am in a negative spiral is to celebrate all the awesome things I have and shake away all the rest just as you have suggested-it always helps so much.
You are so pretty! I absolutely love that fringe skirt on you!
