I know I kept you hanging about what was next, but I kind of had to. 😉 Thank you for all of your encouraging comments. As I said in my last post and I’ll say until I’m finished, I couldn’t do this without your support and I am so thrilled to welcome to your new home!
In the final post on The Lipstick Giraffe, I recounted that I wanted to talk about all facets of my life, not just a main focus on style. I couldn’t do this without talking to others about it, though, so in addition to asking CJ his thoughts, I held a session with some of my creative muses who have been great supporters of me and my pursuits. A lot of great things came out of it, but one thing that was unanimous was that there was a yearning for me to get more personal, which caught me off guard a bit. I felt like I was already getting pretty personal on the blog, but after taking the time to step back, look at my content, feel and look at the tone, I could definitely see that I took major effort in keeping everything pretty, clean and filtered in my posts and on social media.
Pretty isn’t enough, and it doesn’t last.
Clean isn’t enough, and messy can be interesting.
I don’t have a filter.
So, therein came The Kachet Life, cracking open my life like an eggshell.
The Brand Identity
Now, with a new name, came a new identity. Bye-bye, TLG! It was hard! I mean, it was hard until the very second I turned off the lights on the site. Like a few minutes ago. Haha.
My friend Haley (you may know her as @colourmeclassic) did my TLG logo five years ago after I had been blogging for a few months and it only seemed right to work with her again. In my blogging tenure, I knew early on that having an identity would set the tone for how someone would perceive my blog/brand and after being somewhat of an older blogger, it wasn’t time to slack off now!
I gave her a Pinterest board with some inspiration, and soon after, I received a deck that included the exploration process and multiple logo selections. Some look completely different than what I finally selected, but I wouldn’t change a thing about the experience. After having been part of teams that have put these together for clients, it was nice to be on the other side of it, and open my eyes to the possibilities. It wasn’t an instant decision. I took my time to make selections (maybe too much) and ended up with this logo, only making a slight letter height adjustment.
Being completely frank, no content I produce is taking a drastic turn, and you still have access to a good amount of the content that was on TLG. The only thing is, it will be more real-time, sometimes a bit less produced, and often tackling more than a cute outfit. Sometimes I have an inkling to write something, but I’m always afraid of how it’s going to be perceived. No more of that shit! If only my car could record and transcribe what I say, I’d be churning out a blog post every three hours!
The main content pillars are, and will be:
Style + Beauty
Lifestyle, including home, wellness, self-care and opinion pieces because I am always talkin’ about something.
Entertaining, including recipes and hostess tips (we should swap some). This tab is forthcoming.
Blogging + Career, because I’d love to share bits about this journey and also share in your Boss Lady pursuits
Travel, because, if you haven’t checked the old #TLGTravels hashtag (soon to be updated), I do quite a bit of it!
Sacramento, because this is home. I love the hell out of it and want to share more of that.
Most important, I want the content to feel like you’re taking part in the experience with me, almost like we’re having a conversation as we get ready to go someplace, or as you’re perfecting the cheese plate for your upcoming dinner party, or negotiating salary when it’s time for your annual review. I want it to feel personal.
And I’m ready to accept the challenge.
Welcome to The Kachet Life!
