Hey guys! Today I’m popping in with a special guest: CJ! He and I have been really working toward a Fall 2018 wedding, and if you follow me on Instagram, you know that #WeddingWednesday is a thing. It might be a little cheesy, but I thought it might be fun to bring it to the blog, in the question and answer form. I also thought it would be fun to finally share more pictures from the photo shoot we had while we were in Paris.
Welp, here we go!
Use three words to describe Kachet.
Passionate. Silly. Smart.
Use three words to describe CJ.
Noble. Loving. Driven.
What do you remember most about your first date?
I remember how easy it was to talk to him. CJ was very much engaged in the conversation, asking a million questions and grinning the entire time. He leaned in a lot when talking to me, and I was sitting straight up like it was a job interview or something. Selfishly, I remember how interested he was in me and how I spent my time. I also remember how he tried to kiss me on the first date, and I coyly gave him my cheek.
Well, she arrived at Block Butcher Bar before I did. As she knows by now, I’m navigationally challenged and I couldn’t find the place until my 100th attempt at walking that strip it is on. Anyways, what I remembered most about her beyond how beautiful and bright her eyes were, was her posture. She sat long and tall in the way a guy like me can appreciate.
What is your favorite thing to do with Kachet?
Vacation. She’s my ace in the hole for a quick impromptu weekender to, say, Austin with only two weeks notice.
What is your favorite thing to do with CJ?
Eat. No one enjoys delicious food like he and I do, complete with facial expressions and sound effects. I also fancy sitting on the couch in our “spots.” Often times we are eating there, too… so it works out!
When did you know Kachet was the one?
It was early y’all. She did something for me on my 32nd birthday that nobody had ever done for me before. She took me on a picnic in a park with a basket and all. We laid down a blanket, and we ate, and talked, and ate. Kachet is thoughtful in so many ways every single day. We’ve had our ups and downs like any other couple, but throughout, she’s always been sweet and thoughtful.
When did you know CJ was the one?
It’s really hard to say. CJ and I hit so many milestones very early in our relationship and checked so many boxes. If I really had to pin it down, I’d have to say on our trip to The Landing in South Lake Tahoe. It was the sweetest weekend away at the most gorgeous property, and we learned so much about each other. I allowed myself to feel and accept the love, and it changed everything. Now I know this to be the norm, but he put so much thought and care into the weekend, into making sure I knew how he felt about me. It made me put down my guard in our courtship and allow CJ to see the real me. No one’s ever made me feel that special.
What is your favorite travel memory before getting engaged?
Our first trip to Paris in 2015. I had never been abroad, and we decided to do it BIG. We stayed in an Airbnb for nearly two weeks in Montmartre. It became our home. One night, we got a bottle of wine and joined a gang of people that were sitting on the steps of the Sacre Coeur, drinking literally out of the bottle, chatting, people watching, the whole nine. We came back home, had a dance party in the living room (and there is video footage), and stayed up til damn near the sun came out. We still had another week and some change to be in the same space as each other and we made it without killing each other.
This is an easy one. I found a great deal to go The Landing in Tahoe and wanted to surprise Kachet. To keep the suspense, I had her pack both cold and warm weather attire. She had no clue where we were going. I was doing great. To add a belt to these suspenders, I blindfolded her in the car when she sat down (she committed to the blindfolds by the way). By the time I took the 4th turn to get on the highway, she had already guessed our destination based on the direction we were going and the direction the wind was blowing? I don’t know. But she guessed it right on the first try. I obviously lied and said she was wrong, but deep down marveling at her deducing skills.
Hope you guys liked our Q&A! Thanks for allowing me/us to try something different on the blog.
